The in-between is neither

private nor public

It is the space where trust

prevails because

we have agreed to live

by rules of tolerance

and helpfulness and always

thinking there’s a third way

The in between

is in between

the private spaces

and the

promenade

It is a circle

The in between

is where you talk

and meet and play

and eat

and just sit and watch

the passing scene

The greatest re-creation

is the absence of all

but a very few vehicles

upon the way -

that lies next to the

in-between

We walk within

our community

We walk here and there

fearlessly

We trust in our security

And thus we re-create ourselves

discovering who we might be
